Though often overshadowed by romantic or family abuse, teens can also experience emotional bullying and manipulation within friendships. This can be disguised as “frenemy” behavior or simply toxic dynamics. Parents and teens alike struggle to recognize and escape these situations. The consequences can be severe, impacting a teen’s mental health and social life. This talk will offer guidance for parents on how to help their teens identify unhealthy friendships, set boundaries, and navigate leaving an abusive friend group. It acknowledges the challenges and emphasizes the importance of fostering safe and supportive friendships for teenagers.
